Most homeowners use curtains or blinds on their windows, in order to block out sunlight as well as protect their own privacy. They are also great for adding decoration to a room, but sometimes fall short when it comes to protecting your home from harmful ultraviolet rays. The best solution for keeping your home and family safe is to install solar window shades, since they block out harmful sunlight and still protect your privacy.

Privacy is one of the main reasons we install curtains or blinds in our home, but solar window shades can still keep your home private while allowing you to see outside. They are designed to keep outsiders from looking in, but don’t block your view even when they are closed. Like regular curtains, solar window shades do become see-through when it is dark outside and light inside, so installing thicker decorative curtains over them can keep this from happening.

Blocking out sunlight is another reason we use curtains in our homes, but regular curtains don’t actually protect your home from the harmful ultraviolet rays given off by the sun. Solar window shades can block out almost 90% of the harmful UV rays, but will still let in some light to keep your home comfortable during the day.

Using solar shades on your windows can save a great deal in electricity costs each year, since the shades actually block the heat from entering your home. Because glass windows are great heat conductors, the solar shades will actually keep the heat from changing the temperature in your home, so your air conditioner won’t have to work as hard to keep your home comfortable. They also work great during cold months, since they can keep the cold out of your home while your heater is working as well.

Not many know this, but UV rays can actually damage your furniture and other items in your home. Colored fabrics and upholstery can fade, and the paint on your walls can too. Ever notice how the wall around a picture is lighter than the part of the wall that isn’t exposed? This is because of the UV rays actually fading the paint. By using solar window shades in your home, the harmful rays won’t be able to affect your items, making them last longer even when they are placed near a window. You can save money from not having to hire a painter or buy new furniture, which makes the shades pay for themselves in a very short period of time.

Because the solar shades still allow light into your home, you won’t have to worry about using electricity during the day. Unlike regular curtains, the solar shades will only block out the harmful UV rays while still letting natural light in. You can save money by not having to turn on lamps during the day, and get the benefit of fresh sunlight in your home every afternoon.

>Using solar window shades can keep your family and belongings safe, since you can benefit from the sunlight while blocking out any harmful rays. You won’t have to use electricity to keep your home lit, and you can still keep your privacy while being able to look outside. Having solar shades on your window can be very cost efficient, beneficial for your family, and a great addition to practically any home.
