Solar Powered Cars

Solar powered cars are still just a dream for most of us. It is still a dream for Marcelo da Luz, but it is also one he’s made come true. A former flight attendant, Marcelo surpassed the 9,364 mile limit with his solar car. He calls this vehicle the “XOF1″, and it is a 13 foot long, 470 pound UFO looking vehicle. Similar in shape to the one pictured below.

He built the car on his own with the help from some friends, college students, and college teachers.

Just goes to show you what somebody can do when they put their mind to it. Keep in mind that Marcelo has no formal engineering background. Most of us won’t go s as Marcelo did but we can fool around with toy solar powered cars until a mass produced vehicle comes around for the rest of us. Or just get a small solar accessory for your current car.
